Nauja Isabella Lynge, born in Greenland in 1961, is a designer deeply inspired by her Greenlandic heritage. She honors her roots, particularly the traditional Greenlandic sealskin ("Avittat" and "Sioqqat") used in women's national costumes. Her designs often incorporate techniques inspired by her grandmother, Katrine Thomsen, who sewed these traditional costumes, and her grandfather, Augo Lynge, who was a Greenlandic politician, teacher, and hunter.
Nauja creates beaded jewelry, using her favorite bead, the Miyuki Delica 11/0, known for its precision and fit. Her pieces, including earrings, are made with non-nickel, sterling silver, or gold-plated materials. She also draws inspiration from the iconic Greenlandic woman’s knife ("ulo" or "sakkeq") and the "Thule Man" jewelry design, reflecting the colors of icebergs in shades of black, gray, and blue.
